Wisbech Hockey Club had two players in the victorious Cambridgeshire Over 40s Men’s squad that clinched the East title on Sunday at Wilberforce Road.

James Sheppard (goalkeeper) and Nick Osborn (sweeper) played a major part in the defensive unit. Having qualified earlier in the season with wins over Lincs and Norfolk to reach the semi-final stage, Cambs beat Bedfordshire 3-1 in the first semi to qualify for the final against Norfolk, who had beaten Essex 2-1 in the other semi. Cambs opened their final account after just two minutes and followed up with a second goal in the first half. Norfolk came back strongly and grabbed a consolation but couldn’t break down the stalwarts in the Cambs defence.
