Albutt and Haynes the main men as Wisbech thrash March

March are bottom of the Rutland League Division One after a heavy defeat at home to fourth placed Wisbech on Sunday.

After electing to bat, Wisbech scored 196-6 from their 40 overs, Sam Albutt top scoring with an unbeaten 51.

Josh Bowers scored 46, Dom Stannard 30, and Gary Freear 24, while for March, Callum Young took 3-41 and there were also wickets for Kian Pooley, Shae Pooley and Andrew Wright.

In reply, Kieran Haynes tore through the March bowling with figures of 5-14 from seven overs. At one stage March were 28-6 and, although Samuel Clarke (21) and Lewis Welcher (31) steadied the ship, they were 88 all out off 30.2 overs. Brodie Ellis took 3-14 and Freear 2-14.

Long Sutton sealed the Division Three title with a comfortable 58 run win over bottom-of-the-table Spalding.

Sutton, who have won all five matches, elected to bat and were 140 all out off 38.4 overs, Josh Baker top scoring with 38.

Angus Bell scored 25, Dan Oldfield 19, Jacob Synott 14 and Barry Stanway 11.

In reply, Spalding were skittled out for 82 in 30 overs, Baker taking 3-11 from eight overs, Rob Simpson 3-25, and there were also wickets for Steven Milnes, Joe Whittaker, Jake Burton and Charlie Crisp.

Wisbech 2nd won by 10 runs at Peterborough Town. After deciding to bat, the visitors scored 131 all out from 36 overs, Tom Buck scoring 26, Martin Woollard 24, Ali Anthony 23 and Ross Gardner 14.

They then bowled Peterborough out for 121 from 37.5 overs, with two wickets each for John Mallett, Anthony, Lyndon Mallett, Buck and Ryan Van Waterschoot.
