Wisbech Town CC go up to second place in Cambs Tucker League Division One by ending Histon’s unbeaten record.

Wisbech dominated as new signing this season Paul Edgeller grabbed four wickets as Histon were dismissed for 134.

A fine opening stand between Sam Albutt (68) and Tom Meyrick (44) ensured Wisbech comfortably secured a six-wicket win.

Godmanchester’s one-wicket win over title rivals Ramsey in a rain-affected game means Godmanchester now lead and Ramsey drop from first to third.

Nassington’s defeat of Warboys enabled March to pick up a valuable 14 points and escape the bottom two even though they were beaten by two wickets in another rain-affected match against Burwell 2nds.

At The Avenue on Saturday, from 44-3 off just five overs, then 57-5, to 212-9, March would have taken that in a match that ebbed and flowed throughout.

The visitors were set a 155 target to win in 35 overs, having lost two wickets under the rain rule.

At 57-5 off 14, March looked favourites to pick up only their second win of the season.

The relegation-threatened March 2nd XI could have done with their CCA Senior League Division 1 game versus Thriplow being rained off, instead of the previous week’s against fellow strugglers Cottenham.

Seriously depleted, the 178-run hammering was only to be expected as Thriplow racked up a 249-7 total off a reduced 40 overs.

Fielding in drizzle did March no favours, with James Fountain taking 3-42 and veteran off-spinner Stuart Fox 2-46.

The visitors then lost their last eight wickets for just 12 runs, Steven Coe making 20.

Scores: March lost to Burwell by 2 wkts (rain-affected target)

March 212-9 (A. Wright 32, J. Harradine 31, T. Nulty 27). Burwell 157-6.
