Some 15 members headed to Peterborough for Sublime Advanced Performance 10k

New Year’s Eve was a busy day in the race calendar for Fenland Running Club.

Some 25 members ended the year by participating in local 10K races, 15 of whom headed over to Peterborough to take part in the Sublime Advanced Performance 10k.

Held at one of the largest country parks in the area, the route was varied in landscape around Nene Park.

The weather, although cool, stayed calm and dry, allowing age category wins for Nicky Jennings (V45-49) and Jane Greenwood (V60-64).

Personal bests were achieved by Adrian Searle (04:57), Lucy Hicks (02:22), Sue Barrow (2:00) and Rachael Nichols (01:34).

With a finishing field of 641 runners first home for Fenland and fourth female overall was Bethan Everson in a time of 41:32, shortly followed by Rod Sinnott in a time of 43:48.

Five other runners headed over to Ely for the annual 10K race.

First to come home for Fenland was Claudia Milburn in a time of 46.08, ninth in her age group, followed by Alan Bird in 52.43 and then Neil Bailey in 52.51.

Next in was Ian Milburn in the male vet 70 category in a time of 1:04.20 and, lastly, Sharon Bird in 1:08.36.

Four members took off to RAF Marham to complete a fast flat 10k around the perimeter of the airfield.

Results: Nigel Seale 42:33 Steve Bennington 43:15 (PB) Hayley Missin 53:06.

Andy Wicklen used the race as a recovery run after completing a solo charity marathon around Wisbech in aid of the Crockey project (Cricket & Hockey club) on December 28, raising a fantastic £452.
