Wisbech got off to slow start and Ely ran in tries

By Pete Woodhouse

Ely RFC – Sunday, April 7

Wisbech Rugby Club combined their under-12 and U13 players to make a full squad to travel and take on Ely's under-13 side.

The match started off with Wisbech getting off to a slow start and Ely running in a few tries with some very slick passing and support running.

Wisbech found their feet and started getting back into the game. Using their very strong forwards they started muscling Ely off the ball which soon unsettled Ely's free-flowing running game.

The combined forwards from both Wisbech's age groups proved difficult for Ely to contain and Ely found themselves on the back foot with a powerful driving maul from the half way line all the way to the Ely five-metre line but unfortunately they were unable to convert the hard work into tries.

Wisbech coach Ian Luck, full of pride for his side's brave performance, commented afterwards: "The rugby from both sides was great, played in good spirits and none of the players dropped their heads, playing with pride and commitment right to the final whistle."
