Wisbech Town FC will chase their second final spot when they travel to Holbeach United in the last four of the United Counties League Cup tonight.

The Fenmen are already chasing one piece of silverware having booked their place in the Cambs Invitation Cup final.

Coach Dan Dobson said: “When we play the better teams, the players seem to step it up, so hopefully that will be the case at Holbeach on Wednesday. A good positive result against Holbeach would see us in another cup final.”

On Saturday, the ninth-spot Fenmen, who had Michael Frew sent-off in the first half, made hard work of beating Rothwell Corinthians 3-2.

Goals from Billy Smith and Stuart Cobb put Wisbech in control going into the break. The hosts then had two players dismissed themselves before staging a remarkable comeback to draw level.

Just as it looked as though Wisbech would have to settle for a point, Adam Millson popped up with a winner deep in injury time.

Dobson said: “It was a very strange game and when they had two players sent-off we thought the game was won. We were excellent in the first half, but made life very difficult for ourselves in the second.”
