By Pete Woodhouse

Wisbech Town FC fell to a defeat while March Town United drew on the road in their respective leagues on Saturday.

In the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League East Division, the Fenmen went down in Yorkshire to play-off chasing fourth-spot Tadcaster Albion 2-0 at the i2i Stadium.

Goals in each half from Joe Lumsden, who netted from close range after the Fenmen failed to deal with a ball crossed from the right and Paddy Miller, who struck home a 25-yard free-kick, helped the Brewers win a fourth straight match.

Gary Setchell’s troops now next Saturday face a must-win home game with basement side Gresley FC, who are six points behind the Fenmen; followed by a trip on Tuesday (March 19) to Cleethorpes Town, who sit in eighth position.

Gresley have lost eight and drawn two of their last ten matches, the latest being a 2-1 home reverse to Pickering Town.

Meanwhile, top scorer Jack Friend, with his 30th strike of the campaign, earned March an away draw at Ipswich Wanderers, their second 1-1 result in a row, as the Hares dropped out of the Thurlow Nunn League First Division North top five.

Max Mattless picked up two yellow cards for the visitors as did the host team’s Joe Berry. Sixth-position March on Saturday entertain free-falling fourth from bottom Haverhill Borough, who have lost their last eight games in all competitions and who lost 3-1 at home to March on February 19.
