Bitter north-east wind affects some riders

By Pete Woodhouse

With the TT season back into full swing only the most determined competitors braved the bitter north-east wind in the first of this year's Wisbech evening 10-mile races.

As usual the strongest seemed almost unaffected by conditions which had others well down on their normal performances.

Visitor and top rider in the East Anglia district, Matthew Senter of Velovelocity, posted an incredible 21.06 on the twisting Wisbech course.

This was rather overshadowed an excellent ride by triathlete, Mat McClure of the home club with 22.04 and third was taken by up and coming road racer, Tiago Fougo who rattled round in 23.32 on his road bike.

Becky Murley continues to show remarkable early season form and seems to improve on club records as a matter of course as her new 25-mile personal best (pb) and ladies club record of 55.12 in the Lea Valley event demonstrates.
