Lewis Jackson scores unbeaten 71 for Wisbech

A young Wisbech side put their name on the Ernie Wool Shield for the first time when they beat four times winners and host club Chatteris by 30 runs last Sunday.

Lewis Jackson scored an unbeaten 71 in the Wisbech total of 192-4, with George Gowler making 28no and Josh Porter 20.

Porter then showed his county class after tea when he took 4-9 as Chatteris were dismissed for 162. The left-armer was backed by Kieran Hallett (3-42) and Gowler (2-20).

Batting wise for Chatteris, Ben Hollis top-scored with 28, veteran Mark Leach made 24 and Cameron Brown 23.

The Ernie Wool Shield was presented by Fenland Invitation Trophy chairman Pat Ringham to Wisbech skipper Tom Buck.

The Fenland Invitation Trophy league was won by March.
