Next weekend will see Cambridgeshire face Yorkshire at March GER in what will be Cambs’ final home match of the BDO Premier Division Inter-County season.

Play starts at 11am on both days and is the normal £4 per person to enter for the whole weekend.

For the second consecutive home match the visitors include a current BDO World Champion in men’s champion Scott Waites (in the last home match ladies’ world champion, Trina Gulliver of Warwickshire was beaten by Juliet Findley).

Waites won the BDO title at Lakeside in January, having previously also been world champion in 2013.

He is not the only world champion in the Yorkshire squad, as the 2001 Lakeside champion John Walton will also be at the GER.

Yorkshire also include Brian Dawson, Lorraine Winstanley and Beau Greaves (girls youth) who, along with Cambs’ own Martin Adams (who is not playing this weekend) and Dennis Harbour, have been selected for England in this year’s British Internationals.

With just two matches to go in the season, it looks almost inevitable that Yorkshire will win the overall title.

They lead second place Roses rivals Lancashire by 55 points. Cambs have had five consecutive wins to climb up to a very credible fourth in the table and, more importantly, are 28 points above the bottom two, who face relegation.
