Having watched Denis Villeneuve’s Dune (2021) within the last week and thoroughly enjoying it I was left wanting more and was very excited to see how Paul Aritredes’ (played by Timothée Chalamet) story played out going into the sequel.

I believe it’s fair to say that this second film has lived up to all the anticipation.

Dune: Part Two follows the story of Paul after the events of the first film as he works to unite the Fremen people of Arrakis and get revenge on those who destroyed his family.

Over the course of the movie the plot takes many twists and turns as we see Paul’s story develop and how his relationships change around him, ultimately coming to a satisfying conclusion while still leaving room for more to come.

The film itself looks very impressive with vast expanses of desert and epic battles captured beautifully by Gerig Fraser’s cinematography.

This, combined with Villeneuve’s brilliant direction, Hans Zimmer’s extremely thematic score and superb acting performances across the board lead to an extremely immersive experience, creating a deep world that demands your attention and keeps you engaged throughout the movie’s nearly three-hour runtime.

Although, even with this story getting two movies and having a rather long run time, the ending did feel a little rushed and could have been given slightly more room to breathe.

However, that’s a small gripe and, overall, Villeneuve successfully captures the scale and spectacle of this sci-fi classic.
