Don't be lonesome... see Elvis tribute at the Angles in Wisbech
An award-winning Elvis tribute act brings his homage to The King to Wisbech’s Angles Theatre next month.
Eddy Popescu’s Forever Elvis show is being staged at the Alexandra Road theatre from 7.30pm on Friday, March 6.
Tickets are £13, from the box office on 01945 474447 or online at www.anglestheatre.co.uk/forever-elvis.html
Eddy was born in Constanta, Romania, in 1977. As a six-year-old he first saw Elvis in the film Fun In Acapulco and ever since then wanted to be a singer like him.
At 16 he started to learn guitar along with Elvis songs and sang at shows in his local town.
After a few years he was asked to join a leading band in Romania called ONIX and he sang with them across Romania for many years and appeared on Romanian TV.
In 2010 Eddy moved to the UK with his family and after joining a local band he was spotted by an agent who booked him into social clubs and pubs.
Eddy quickly established himself as a very popular entertainer on the circuit and was named by The Concert Secretary’s Federation best newcomer for 2012.
He started to put together his full tribute show and Forever Elvis was born. In 2014 Eddy competed in The European Elvis Championships in Birmingham and was crowned the European Elvis Gospel Champion for that year.
He competed at the same event again in 2016 and made the final of The European Elvis Championship, narrowly missing out on first place.
He took second place in the 2017 Denmark Festival Image of the King and was people’s choice 2017 at the Porthcawl Elvis Festival.
