Wisbech Horsefair Shopping Centre holding two Halloween events
Wisbech Horsefair Shopping Centre is holding two Halloween events for children this month.
On October 27, it is joining up with professional artist Syrah Arnold to deliver a fun-filled, creative experience for families, and on October 31, it is holding a fun day.
Following on from last year’s large community artwork, children and families in Wisbech and its surrounding areas are invited to participate in painting several large Halloween panels, which will then be displayed in shops around the centre.
The session is free, all materials are provided, and families and young people are invited to drop in on Monday, October 27, between 10.30am and 2pm.
There will also be spooky masks for children to decorate and take away at the end of the session. Syrah will be assisted by Wisbech GCSE pupil Nathanael, who will be hands-on, helping to facilitate this colourful community workshop, hosted in the REMO store (located opposite Wisbech bus station).
Mark Broadhead, centre manager at Horsefair Shopping Centre, said: “It is scary how fast the Halloween event has come around again, but everyone here is excited at the events planned to give our community a fright-tastic time.
“We are delighted that Syrah and Nathanael are able to run another fabulous community painting session for us, building on last year.
“Their creative workshop paves the way for more Halloween fun at Horsefair Shopping Centre on Friday, October 31, when there will be fairground rides, a word trail, face-painting and a Halloween fancy dress competition. We will also have, on the Friday, a guest appearance from Morticia Adams during the afternoon, and of course lots of sweets.
“At Horsefair, we're continuously looking for opportunities to contribute to our local community. We believe in encouraging creativity and unity in Wisbech, and these events are simply one way we achieve it.
“We invite everyone to come along, participate in the creative workshop with Syrah and Nathanael, and please do join in on the Friday too. There are lots of opportunities to create some lovely memories this Halloween."
Syrah said: "We're thrilled to work with Mark and the REMO team again to build on Horsefair’s very successful annual Halloween event. Last year we saw some incredible painting and very focused concentration by young children and their older peers, and even a few adults.
“This resulted in a stunning Halloween fabric hanging, which will be on display again this year. I can’t wait to see the new shop displays once the participants have worked their magic on the boards.”
