A breathtaking firework display will be lighting up the night sky over Wisbech St Mary next month.
Members of the Wisbech St Mary Primary School’s Parent Teacher and Friends Association will once again be staging their popular Fireworks Extravaganza on Saturday, November 7.
The event has been running for more than 30 years and raises thousands of pounds for the school.
Last year, around 3,000 people went along to the school to enjoy the night.
Professional pyrotechnics company 1605 will once again be staging two fantastic displays, which will be started by a lucky youngster.
One of the people behind the event, PTFA member Bex Lee, said: “Every year, the company promises us a bigger and better display and they never fail to deliver.
“Our event is very well known and we have a huge group of committed people who come every single year.
“It is really a fantastic night and everyone has a good time.
“We have something for all the family and it leads nicely into the festive season.”
The committee will again be running a children’s raffle with the top prize of a lucky youngster setting off the display using a detonator.
Fairground rides, a raffle, along with a wide selection of hot food will be all part of the fun.
A disco will also be held during the night, plus there will be a host of games including hoop-la and tombola.
The display is one of the PTFA’s biggest fundraisers of the year and generally makes about £5,000.
This money helps to pay for swimming lessons, equipment and special treats such as a pantomime company entertaining youngsters at Christmas.
Gates will open at 5.15pm with the bonfire being lit at 5.30pm. Firework displays will be held at 6.15pm and 7.30pm.
