Fenland garden centre offers splashing day out with Disney-themed maize maze

Celebrate 100 years of Disney this summer at a local garden centre.

The iconic images of Mickeyand Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy have been intricately carved into a giant maize maze at Skylark on Manea Road in Wimblington.

Skylark’s giant 12 acre maize field created using over two million plants, making one of the world’s largest depictions of the four loved Disney characters.

Visitors will be able to follow over 3km of pathways in the Disney themed attraction to complete the bug themed quest and solve the maize maze challenge.

Skylark’s funyard includes the upgraded Pesky Pigeon Tractor Ride, pedal go-kart track, jumping pillow, Water Wars, giant slide complex, pig racing plus much, much more.

Mickey and Minnie will be making special appearances throughout the summer at Skylark. You can enjoy the Maize Maze and all the funyard activities all day for one entry price – online tickets are: £14 for children aged three to 15, £12 for those aged 16+, under threes are free and a family ticket is £50 for two adults and two children or one adult and three children.

It took the events team a week of toiling in the fields to design and cut out the pathways in the maize field using a rotavator. The paths are carefully cut out using GPS technology to plot the image to create a maze for visitors to explore throughout the summer, think of it as a dot to dot, but on a 12 acre field!

Event manager, Bart Woodbine said: “My family and especially my son are huge Disney fans, our favourite film is ‘The Little Mermaid’ so when we heard it was Disney’s 100th birthday and there was going to be a new ‘The Little Mermaid’ film, it was an easy decision as to what to theme our Maize Maze this year”

He added: “This is going to be a really great summer and we can’t wait to open the doors on July 20.”
