A lightning has left an 89m high wind turbine at Doddington on fire

A lightning strike earlier this morning has left a wind turbine on land off Benwick Road, Doddington on fire.

A spokesman for Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue said they were called at around 7.50am this morning (Wednesday).
A fire crew from Chatteris and another crew together with a multi-star from Stanground in Peterborough are at the scene, which has sparked a lot of interest on local social media sites this morning.

One person posted: "Not a sight I see on farm everyday! Poorly wind turbine!"

The crews arrived to find the 89m high wind turbine well alight with debris falling to the ground.
The spokesman said there were no further details of the incident at this time.
