A47 now open again between Guyhirn and Wisbech after accident

A stretch of the A47, which was closed for much of yesterday due to a serious accident, is now open again with traffic running freely.

The Fen Road was closed both ways between Wisbech and the Guyhirn roundabout after an accident at the roundabout involving a car and a double-decker bus.

The route from the B198 Cromwell Road to the A141 March Road was shut after the accident, which happened around 2.30pm and has been described as ‘serious’, with the air ambulance in attendance.

Relatives have reported that none of the bus passengers were injured.

Traffic was diverted through local routes, resulting in congestion in local villages.
