Burrowmoor Primary Academy in March raised £3,000 from a sponsored dog walk for a trip to Hunstanton

A school raised thousands by taking part in a fun sponsored walk.

Burrowmoor Primary Academy in March recently hosted the dog walk that raised an impressive £3,000 for the school, while providing a special opportunity for children to spend quality time with their families.

More than 300 children, accompanied by parents and 52 enthusiastic dogs, took part in the event, walking six laps around the school field for a total of 3km.

The dogs, representing a wide variety of breeds – including Pippin the greyhound, Rose the Chihuahua, Labradors, Bulldogs, German Shepherds, and many more – were dressed in red ribbons and treated to gravy bones before embarking on the walk.

Each dog was reunited with its young owner, adding a sense of excitement to the day.

Leading the procession was Pippin Diva Bailey, the school’s beloved greyhound mascot.

Proudly wearing her uniform, she eagerly took the lead, though her energy slowed as the event progressed, prompting her to watch the fun unfold from the sidelines.

The warm autumn weather added to the joyous atmosphere as children, parents, and their pets enjoyed a stroll around the field.

The event was not only a fundraiser but also a chance for families to connect.

One Year 3 student proudly announced that she had walked a dog for the first time in her life, a memorable experience for both children and families alike.

This community event also marked the launch of the school’s new fundraising group, Friends of Burrowmoor, which will spearhead future initiatives.

Upcoming plans include cake sales and a summer activity day featuring bouncy castles and other exciting activities.

The funds raised will go toward a whole-school trip to Hunstanton next summer, with any leftover money directed toward improving playground equipment.

The day was a resounding success, fostering a strong sense of community and family togetherness while raising vital funds for the school’s future activities.
