Sutton Bridge Players triumph at Hunstanton One-Act Drama Festival
An amateur theatre group has triumphed at a drama festival, scooping three awards.
Sutton Bridge Players performed in the Hunstanton One Act Drama Festival, bringing home trophies for best supporting male actor, audience choice award and the adjudicator’s award.
The group performed Rambles on Radio by Robert Scott and a read-through of festival organiser Stephen P.E.Hayter’s script at the Princess Theatre.
Ren Shilcock, chair of Sutton Bridge Players, said: “We are incredibly proud of our achievements at the festival.
“Winning these awards is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and passion of every member of our group.
“We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to share our love for theatre with such a supportive and enthusiastic audience and panel of adjudicators.”
The annual festival attracts drama groups from across the region, showcasing a diverse array of talent and creativity.
Rambles on Radio, written by Robert Scott and directed by Ren Shilcock, was the group’s third year of entering the festival.
Previous years have seen the Group receive nominations including Best Female Actor, Best Supporting Male Actor and Best Technical Presentation.
In a debut performance, Ashley Hornigold played the role of Harry, delivering a performance that had the audience in stitches and his efforts were rewarded with the Best Supporting Actor award.
The group was established in 2021 bringing amateur performances to the community and highlighting the importance of theatre in the area.
Their next production will be pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk which will be performed in February half-term, 2025.
