Fenland go-kart driver Alfie Irvine’s AIM is to promote autistic charity
A young racing driver from Fenland is flying the flag for autism by representing a charity when he takes to the track.
Twelve-year-old Alfie Irvine, from Walpole Highway, has been racing go-karts for four years and has enjoyed lots of success.
He has just completed the latest season and has been thrilled to gain sponsorship from Anglia Karting Centre at North Pickenham where he started his driving career.
Alfie started with Kids Club which involves training and a mini-league and offers a good grounding for beginners.
He has since graduated to club racing, and is now set to move from Honda Cadets to Junior Rotax and will be behind the wheel of a full-size chassis kart.
Alfie now predominantly races at Red Lodge near Newmarket.
Having had a strong season this year he is hoping to continue the trend in the highly competitive junior series which runs up to age 16
Alfie races under the Autism in Motorsport (AIM) banner and is an ambassador for the charity raising awareness and encouraging young people with varying degrees of autism to try the sport.
Although Alfie is not autistic it is a cause close to his heart said his proud Grandpa Steve Paull.
He said: “Alfie wants to give a little bit back to the sport he loves by promoting AIM.”
Alfie is not sponsored financially by AIM, and to find out more about the charity visit its Facebook page.
He is, however, still looking for sponsorship as every little helps he desperately wants to compete in the British Championship but funding is always an issue. So if you have a bit of space in your budget for advertising or sponsorship please contact: stevepaull50@me.com
