Allison Homes East granted planning permission to bring 175 new homes to Whittlesey

Allison Homes East has received outline planning permission to build up to 175 new homes in Whittlesey.

Located on Drybread Road, the 20-acre site lies north of the housebuilder’s existing Whittlesey Green development and is located just over eight miles away from its head office in Peterborough.

Of the 175 homes, 35 will be affordable homes. All the properties will be sustainably built, heated by air-source heat pumps, equipped with PV solar panels, and have electric car charging points installed.

Alongside the new homes, Allison Homes East will be enhancing the local environment by delivering a net gain in biodiversity of over 13%, meaning the development will have a positive impact on the area’s habitats, plants, and wildlife. Over three hectares of public open space will also be provided, including a new play area and walking routes.

The housebuilder will also be making financial contributions to the area’s NHS, education services, and East of England Ambulance service.

The footway and cycleway on Drybread Road will be extended to ensure a safe connection to the nearby primary school, and improvements will be made to Drybread Road to improve access to the A605.

Welcome travel packs will be provided to all new residents, which will include bus and cycle vouchers to encourage sustainable travel.

Construction work on the development is anticipated to begin in summer 2025 with the first homes set to be available in early 2026.

Georgina McCrae, planning director at Allison Homes East, said: “We are delighted to have received a resolution to grant outline planning permission by Fenland District Council to provide a range of brand-new, quality homes in Whittlesey.

“Since our Whittlesey Green development first launched to the public in early 2022 we have seen great success, and we are looking forward to continuing our work in the town.

“At Allison Homes East we have been investing in Cambridgeshire, particularly Peterborough, for many years, and are very excited to be furthering our commitment to the area.”
