Amazing support for fundraising bingo in aid of Wisbech schoolgirl
A charity bingo in aid of a Wisbech schoolgirl saw would-be players queuing up ahead of the event at the Thoms Clarkson Academy on Thursday (26).
The event, organised by local fundraiser Betty Cunningham, was in aid of academy pupil Gaby Maurice, a year nine student and her family as she battles childhood cancer.
Betty said she was more than delighted with the turn-out and was even more thrilled that over £5,660 was raised for Gaby and her family to help with the costs they face including travelling backwards and forwards to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge where she is under-going treatment.
Betty said: "The bingo didn't start until 7pm but people were queuing outside the door at 5.10pm and we eventually had to put even more tables out.
"It was a fantastic evening and we raised a wonderful amount for Gaby - the hall was packed and we had some great prizes donated as well as receiving support from Wisbech Lions who made a donation.
"We are truly grateful to everyone who supported us, we really do have an amazing community."
