Two local scout leaders have been recognised for their long service to the movement with one celebrating over 50 years of helping.

Fenland District Commissioner, Ian Bullard, joined 1st March Scout Group this week to recognise the dedication of two of their leaders.

He presented Linda Goakes leader of 1st March Cubs with an award to recognise her 50 years of running the group. She was second uniformed leader within the group to have achieved the five decades milestone as her late husband Michael Goakes – known as Skip – was the first.

Linda Goakes has served 1st March Scout Group for over 50 years, she was presented with her award by Fenland District Commissioner Ian Bullard.

Which means the pair together have dedicated over 100 years of volunteering between them to the young people of March.

Ian also presented Paul Dunham, leader of 1st March Scouts, with his 15 year service award.

1st March Scout Group was founded in 1909 and has a high retention rate of leaders and committee members.
