A Wisbech over 60s club has spoken of its success since opening five weeks ago and is inviting more residents to join in.

The club aims to combat loneliness among older people by putting on fun activities as part of the community cafe at the Queen Mary Centre.

For the last few weeks sandwiches, cakes, scones, and fruit have been provided with endless coffee and tea.

Organisers have said the attendance of the group has been slowly growing week after week.

The group is open from 12-2pm every Friday and gives people the chance to meet new friends as well as mingle with old friends.

One member, Erbie Murat, gives lessons in chess and backgammon to beginners and a challenge to more experienced players.
