Anglian Water staff rate their chief executive as a 'top boss'
Anglian Water's Chief Executive has been awarded the coveted Highest Rated CEO award for the second time, by Glassdoor, one of the world's largest job sites.
In its annual Employee Choice awards for 2019, Peter Simpson, who has been at the company helm for 10 years, received a ringing endorsement from employees.
An impressive 99 per cent approval rating earned him the top spot in the league table, two years after he was first awarded the title.
The water company CEO came out ahead of other business leaders from international companies and industries including Network Rail, Metro Bank, Shell and Rolls Royce.
Unlike other workplace awards, the Glassdoor Employees' Choice Awards are based on the input of employees who voluntarily provide anonymous feedback.
A company review and comments about their CEO's leadership, plus insight into their job, work environment and employer over the past year is included.
Winners are ranked based on their overall CEO approval rating from their employees during the past year.
Chief Executive Peter Simpson said: "I feel incredibly flattered - and surprised - to have won this award and would like to thank all our employees who make Anglian Water such a great place to work for everyone, including myself.
"This is the best team I've ever had the honour of working with.
"I'm very grateful that I have a role where I can work with and develop people and teams in the pursuit of doing something meaningful, and where I can see the impact of what we're doing.
As a business, Anglian Water also tops the charts, as Glassdoor's number one place to work for in 2019, with its employees championing it as a "great company to work for" and scoring the company an impressive 4.5 out of 5.
