Anglian Water to make sure flood victims get support after burst main left March, Chatteris and Wimblington with no water at all
A water company has said it is working with its insurance team after thousands were left without water over the weekend.
Residents living in Chatteris, March, Wimblington and surrounding areas reported the issue to Anglian Water on Friday, upon discovering that they had low pressure or no running water at all.
However, despite the issue now being resolved, some have reported flood damage to their homes
The company now says it is going through its standard insurance processes to ensure those impacted receive the support and assistance needed.
The burst main was in March, and teams had to carry out an emergency repair to get it working again.
During that time, it was said that those who were vulnerable and on the priority register would receive bottles of water, however, many on Facebook said they did not get any.
One user said: “My 88-year-old dad got nothing, no bottled water.”
Others say theirs was delivered after midnight, at 2am and 6am, by which time their water was back on.
The company has advised that anyone who was on the list and didn’t receive water should get in contact by calling 03457 145 145 so further investigations can take place.
“We’d like to thank our customers for their patience while we carried out this essential work, especially during the warm weather over the weekend,” a spokesperson said.
Those wanting to apply to be on the Priority Services Register for future incidents can do so here.
