Appeal to catch person who dumped three bunnies outside a Wisbech flat

The RSPCA is appealing for information after three rabbits were abandoned outside a flat in Fenland.

One Netherland Dwarf rabbit and two Lionhead rabbits were discovered by a member of the public who brought them inside their home for care before contacting the RSPCA.

Animal Collection Officer (ACO) Justin Disdale who collected the rabbits, said: “These poor rabbits were dumped on the street and must have been incredibly distressed when they were found. Thankfully, the member of the public who found them took them inside for care. The person who abandoned the rabbits must have known that the occupier of the flat knew how to look after rabbits as they have their own house rabbits and so were able to bring the rabbits inside and care for them until we arrived.

“I appreciate that whoever decided to give up these animals left them somewhere where they thought they would be cared for but there are always other options available to pet owners rather than abandoning them. We understand that circumstances may change which mean an owner can no longer care for their pet but abandoning them is never the answer.

“I am now appealing for anyone with information on how these rabbits came to be abandoned to get in touch with us on the inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018.”

The three rabbits have now been taken to a boarding facility for some much-needed TLC until they can be rehomed.
