Inspectors found that Nacro leaders, managers and staff hold high ambitions for learners that help them make good progress, achieve well and take positive next steps in their education and employment.

Ofsted inspectors reviewed provision across 16 to 19 study programmes, apprenticeships, and adult education delivered at education centres across England including at Nacro’s Wisbech centre, where many students have low prior educational attainment, special educational needs, are from low-income households, or are care leavers.

Inspectors observed that Nacro teachers guide learners skilfully to make small important steps in their learning, and that learners grow in confidence and develop their personal and social skills.

Senior tutor at Nacro Wisbech centre, Hilary Brazil, said: “At Nacro Wisbech, young people and adults can choose from a wide range of learning opportunities to give them the skills they need to get on the path to their chosen career. We also work closely with local employers and businesses to offer the best work experience, and progression opportunities into further education or employment for our students.

“At Nacro Wisbech, the sky really is the limit and we encourage more local people looking to progress their education to come and find out what makes Nacro Wisbech so special.”

Nacro Director of Education and Skills, Lisa Capper, said: “We are incredibly proud to see the hard work and dedication of all Nacro staff and students in Wisbech recognised by Ofsted.

“Nacro staff work tirelessly to maintain a highly ambitious culture of learning alongside personalised care and support to bring out the very best in every single student whether they are 16-19 years old or an adult. We equip our students with the skills and confidence they need to flourish and reach their full potential. We look forward to helping many more people across Wisbech succeed and move towards a brighter future.”
