Ban for Whittlesey drink-driver who slammed relative’s car into garden wall
A drink-driver who slammed a relative’s car into a garden wall in Whittlesey has been banned from driving.
Kieran Wootton, 23, was arrested in Stonald Road on April 6 after he crashed into the wall and was found to be over the drink drive limit.
Wootton, of Northgate, Whittlesey, admitted taking a family member’s car and driving it while being a provisional licence holder and uninsured.
He was handed a 17-month driving disqualification after admitting drink driving, aggravated vehicle taking, driving without a licence, and driving without insurance at Peterborough Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
He must also complete a ten-day rehabilitation activity requirement and a 60-day alcohol abstinence requirement.
PC Will Gilbert, who investigated, said: “Wootton got behind the wheel of the car knowing he was under the influence, and his actions have left people having to pay for the damage caused.
“If anyone knows someone who is driving while intoxicated, I encourage them to report it to us through our confidential hotline.”
Cambridgeshire Constabulary operates a dedicated, confidential hotline – 0800 0320845 – which is available 24/7 and allows the public to report concerns about someone believed to be driving under the influence of drink or drugs.
