CORONAVIRUS: A run on toilet roll. Really?
Published: 12:00, 15 March 2020
I was baffled by reports in the press of a run on toilet paper in supermarkets.
It really tells me all I need know about society’s tenuous grip on reality and what is important to sustain life.
We are facing the possibility of restricted movement (lockdown) and I’d imagine the thought that we might need to garner together stocks of food and basic medicines has occurred to many. But toilet roll?
I can see how it might be a tad inconvenient to run out, but if the worst was to happen, surely you’d load your trolley up with butter beans rather than bog roll?
