Cash boost for group helping Wisbech's young unemployed
A donation from the Wisbech Community Led Local Development Fund has helped YMCA Trinity Group continue to support more than 50 young and vulnerable people through its Access to Employment Project.
The project, which launched in 2013, gives young people access to specialised and tailored employment support. The donation will cover 50% of the total project costs, with the total project being up to £60k, meaning the Fund could give as much as £30,000.
YMCA Trinity Group is a local charity that helps young people to realise their full potential on their journey to independence.
Each year, it supports around 10,000 young and vulnerable people, and communities across Cambridgeshire and Suffolk.
Its primary aim is to enable every young person to grow and develop, running initiatives that tackle issues such as youth engagement, youth offending, mental health, access to employment, domestic violence, and crisis support.
YMCA Trinity chief executive Jonathan Martin said: “We are incredibly grateful for the generous donation. Individuals who engage with the project will have a fantastic resource of support and opportunities to help them back into sustainable employment and provide positive life opportunities.
“We are lucky enough to be working with counsellors, hypnotherapists, life coaches, hairdressers and many other dedicated professionals to give young people the springboard they need into better situations.”
As part of the Access to Employment project, YMCA Trinity is offering a one to one service, adhering to social distancing guidelines, with CV help, supported job searching, interview techniques and access to job opportunities.
YMCA Trinity Group access to employment manager Hannah Dalgarno said: “To be able to have access to this funding during such difficult times is lifechanging for local people.
“Young people have felt the impact of COVID-19 and by supporting them get back to work, we energise communities and create a better future.
Other community services provided by YMCA Trinity include health, fitness and wellbeing facilities, training and education, childcare, youth work, accommodation, and venue hire.
