Building fires in Wisbech and March were both accidental




Fire crews from Cambridgeshire and Norfolk were kept busy over the weekend attending two separate building fires.

The first incident happened at 5.28am on Saturday (29) with crews from Wisbech and March along with West Walton and Outwell (Norfolk) were called to a building fire on West Street in Wisbech.

Crews arrived to find an outbuilding connected to flats on fire. Wearing breathing apparatus, firefighters used hose reels to extinguish the fire and cleared the smoke using a positive-pressure ventilation fan.

The crews returned to their stations by 8am.

The cause of the fire was accidental.

Then at 2.04pm on Sunday (30) crews from March and Chatteris were called to a building fire on High Street in March.

Firefighters arrived to find the fascia of a building on fire. The crews used a hose reel and small gear to extinguish the fire and returned to their stations by 3pm.
