Businesses give cash boost to Wisbech mayor's chosen charities

The Mayor of Wisbech, Councillor Aigars Balsevics has had a busy diary this week with two visits to businesses that have generously donated to his chosen charities, to say thank you in person.

During his visit to Elgood & Sons brewery on Tuesday (20), the Mayor had an opportunity to meet Robin Hotson, Elgood’s estate manager, on behalf of Belinda Sutton, managing director, and other team members.

Elgood's has a long-standing reputation for their support towards local charities and causes and Coun Balsevics was keen to express his gratitude.

The following day, the Mayor travelled to meet Simon Brett, managing director of Bretts Transport in Guyhirn.

Simon explained the decision to support the mayor’s charities because he is strongly in favour of young people having access to team sports and ways to get fit, feelings shared by the mayor whose own children take part in a variety of fitness activities and team sports.

Coun Balsevics has also decided to donate £500 from his mayor allowance to support his chosen charities.

This coming Saturday, it will be time for him to once again don the apron and get stuck into cooking in a live demonstration of ghoulish and grizzly delights.

Accompanied by deputy mayor, Councillor Andrew Lynn and top local professional chef, Alison Sloan for Food at the Market Place, this weekend's demonstration will have a Halloween theme and will feature spine-tingling, spooky dishes and free recipe cards.
