Busy time for Wisbech school pupils including having their artwork displayed at Cambridge's Fitzwilliam Museum
An artwork designed and made by pupils at St Peter's Junior School in Wisbech is currently on display in a local museum.
A group of talented Year 6 children had been working on a piece of art inspired by the painting 'Cupid and Psyche' by Jacopo del Sellaio.
Alongside their teacher and art lead, Natalie Bailey, the children discovered how art can communicate and express thoughts and emotions. The children designed a dress to show the resilience of Psyche, using denim material and containing love letters written by the children from Cupid to Psyche.
The pupils recently enjoyed a visit to the Fitzwilliam Museum in Cambridge to attend the opening of the #INSPIRE2020 exhibition, where organisers were so blown away by the children's creation they have placed it on display in the armoury at the museum. The exhibition runs until March 2020.
On Sunday December 8 members of St Peter's Glee Club opened the Wisbech Christmas Fayre with four festive songs. The children were smartly dressed in their new Glee Club -T-shirts and Christmas hats. Gemma Brown, the school's deputy headteacher helped organise the performance.
