Cambridgeshire Police offer warning over fake messages
Police are warning people to be on their guard against fraudsters who are targetting the vulnerable amid the cost of energy crisis.
Text messages are being sent to people's mobiles offering cash back on energy bills under in some cases as much as £400 is being offered.
But a police spokesperson said: "Sadly, fraudsters will use any opportunity to get your cash - this time they’re taking advantage of those struggling in the cost of living crisis. Whether it’s offers of money back on bills or cheap mortgage deals – remember, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is. Beware of fraudulent messages and always check before sharing details or clicking any links.
