Wisbech care home is ‘buzzing’ after In Bloom win thanks to Anthony Curton School pupils

A Wisbech care home is celebrating coming first in an In Bloom competition run by its owners that saw homes across the country taking part.

Staff and residents at Lyncroft Residential Care Home in Clarkson Avenue joined forces with the children of the Anthony Curton Primary School in Walpole St Peter to help create a display with a real ‘buzz’ about it.

The home and school have previously been linked after the children last year sent hand-written Christmas cards to all the residents with personalised notes in each one.

This time the pupils were invited to colour in bees, which were then sent to residents for judging before being hung on the outer fence of the home, which can still be seen by passers-by now.

A winner was chosen from each year group.

Two of the residents, Roz, a former deputy head, and Roy went along to the school with the home’s activities organiser where they took part in an assembly entitled ‘Actions speak louder than words.”
