Whittlesey care home is ‘Good’ says Care Quality Commission
A Fenland care home has been rated ‘good’ overall following an inspection by a government watchdog.
The Hermitage, in St Mary’s Street, Whittlesey, was rated ‘good’ across all areas including caring, safe, well-led, and responsive by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).
The assessment was carried out in May last year and the report was published this week.
At the time there were 15 residents living in the Hermitage, which can accommodate up to 24 residents.
While the overall findings were ‘good’, the inspector did flag one or two areas for improvement.
The report said: “ At this assessment, we found care records did not show people were involved in the planning of their care and lacked information about their individual needs. However, staff appeared to know people well, and people were happy living in the service.
“Governance processes were not robust and did not identify the issues we found at this assessment.”
However, they also found that people felt safe living at the Hermitage and no one had any complaints.
The residents told the inspector that whilst they were not involved in the planning of their care, they felt staff knew them well and supported them in a way that met their needs and wishes.
The report concluded: “People experienced good outcomes as a result of the care they received, and this included people regaining their independence.”
