Askham Village Community acknowledges Doddington Medical Centre as part of International Nurses Day celebrations
A care home and rehab centre celebrated International Nurses Day with a focus on gratitude and community.
Askham Village Community care home in Doddington marked the occasion with a series of thoughtful gestures to honour its dedicated nursing team and recognise the invaluable role nurses play across the wider community.
As part of the celebrations, nurses across Askham were surprised with tokens of appreciation, including gifts, a complimentary lunch, and handmade cards crafted by residents.
The gesture was organised and delivered by the events coordinators, Ella Cuthbert and Kelly Hayes, the HR coordinator, Laura Gough, and the associate director, Mavrick Leveille, who personally thanked members of the nursing team for their continued commitment and compassion.
Commenting on the importance of wellbeing in the workplace, Laura said: “Supporting the wellbeing of our team is a key part of what we do.
“Today was a chance to recognise our nurses and the dedication they show, while also encouraging them to take a moment for themselves.”
As part of a wider gesture of thanks, the team also visited Doddington Medical Centre to deliver thank-you gifts, acknowledging the essential role GP practice staff play in supporting the local community.
Associate director Mavrick Leveille reflected on the value of recognising nursing professionals across all settings, stating: “We are proud to work alongside so many dedicated professionals, both within Askham and across the wider healthcare network.
“International Nurses Day is a reminder of how deeply nurses impact lives every day.”
The occasion forms part of Askham Village Community’s broader commitment to staff recognition, collaboration, and a culture that places value on care, both for those they support and the people delivering it.
