Keneydon House care home in Whittlesey rated ‘good’ after inspection
A Whittlesey care home has been rated good overall following an inspection by a government watchdog.
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) published the findings of the inspection carried out last summer this week and said Keneydon House was ‘good’ across all areas.
The home cares for up to 21 older residents, some of them with dementia.
The report from the CQC did find the home needs to ensure that information is fully documented through the recruitment process and that some risk assessments lacked information.
However, the inspectors found medicines were well managed and people were treated with kindness, and their privacy and dignity were protected.
The inspectors spoke to a variety of people including family members, staff and a visiting health professional.
The report said: “Most people were complimentary about the standard of care received.”
Comments included: “Day-to-day care is excellent”, “Our family is satisfied with the care that our relative is getting. We have no complaints. They respond promptly to their needs every day.”
Others included: “Staff are really switched on. I have total confidence in them. They seem to be the same carers and there isn’t much changing of staff.” “I am kept well informed. Like when there was a COVID outbreak or when any incidents have happened”.
“Never had a complaint or concern. I’d talk to the manager if I had a complaint or to the CQC.”
“The manager is very much approachable. I’ve met them several times; they keep me up to date on visits. The home seems to be very well organised”.
