Wisbech care home residents enjoy Pancake Day celebrations

Staff and residents at Rose Lodge care home in Wisbech mixed up batter and flipped pancakes for their annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Day celebrations.

Head chef Di Lilley flipped more than 90 pancakes, serving them up with sweet and savoury fillings for some eager residents.

Di said: “My secret to the best pancakes is all in the mixing. Give it some elbow grease when mixing the batter and mix them properly and you’ll get perfect pancakes every time. I like making different ones with the residents and talking about their experiences of Shrove Tuesday when they were younger. We are still coming out with lemon and sugar as a firm favourite.”

Barbara, a resident at Rose Lodge, said: “I absolutely love Pancake Day and I love giving the flipping a go.”

John said he had the knack of it before his slid to the floor, much to the amusement of Marie and Elizabeth!
