Change of time for Wimblington Fun Day as the mercury is set to rise

Organisers of a popular village fun day have brought the event forward by an hour as temperatures are set to soar this weekend.

Wimblington Fun Day - which is being held on Sunday at the Parkfield - includes the hugely popular children's races.

However, organisers say they have been closely monitoring weather forecasts and have decided changes are in order.

Posting on social media they said: "We have been closely monitoring the weather forecast and as the highest temperatures are looking likely late afternoon, we have taken the decision to move the whole event forward by one hour, so the fund day will now run from 11am to 3pm.

"The revised programme will be posted separately, but the races will happen at 12.45pm so this should be the most comfortable time.

"There will be lots of water involved in them and to let's be honest, they're really about fun, not running fast."
