Little Miracles to open new branch in Wisbech next month to support families with disabled children in the area

A charity supporting children with disabilities is preparing to open a new branch next month.

Little Miracles, which already has locations in Chatteris and March, is hoping to bring a “busy little centre” to 16 Horse Fair in Wisbech by May.

A team of eight staff members is lined up and ready to bring daily activities such as Miracle Tots (for parents and toddlers) as well as social skills sessions, coffee mornings, family support workshops and a youth club for anyone who is part of a family that has a child with additional needs.

Mick Oliver, who will be heading the branch, said it will also feature a children’s play area.

“We quite literally had a youngster yesterday who tried to burst through the doors.”

He will be helped by lead Joanne Tasker-Marsh Painter as well as other workers and volunteers.

The charity was founded by Michelle King, from Peterborough, back in 2010 after she had her son Oliver, who was born with a disability.

She says at the time she felt very isolated as she did not have people she could relate to, so she set up Little Miracles to ensure families like hers could access the care and support they needed and connect with each other in confidence and without judgment.

“Little Miracles Charity is looking forward to the opening of their newest branch, a centre in Wisbech that will be a base for families of children with additional needs, disabilities and life-limiting conditions,” a spokesperson said.

“Little Miracles exists to ensure that everyone gets the support they need and that no one has to go through what can be a very lonely, scary journey alone.”
