Chatteris library celebrates 30 years with tea and cake

Staff and users of Chatteris library have marked a milestone for the facility with a tea party.

The library moved from its original position in a building in New Road to Furrowfields Road in 1992 and the tea party was held to mark the 30th anniversary of the move.

Lady Norma Major, the wife of former Prime Minister Sir John Major opened the new library in 1992.

A singing group from the Chatteris U3A entertained at the celebration with a rendition of 'Happy Birthday', 'Congratulations' and other songs.

The Chatteris mayor Linda Ashley cut the birthday cake and staff, past and present, together with library users, reminisced and enjoyed this with tea served on vintage china.

While younger library members created their own birthday party hats for the occasion.
