Chatteris teen pays it forward to help foodbank after online 'whip round'

A caring teenager who inspired an online 'whip round' for his voluntary work during lockdown has paid some of his good fortune forward.

Joseph Beer, 15, was featured on the front page of the Citizen last month after news of his work around Chatteris cleaning signs, weeding and tidying paths and pavements hit social media.

Alee Pardon launched an online appeal to raise cash as a thank-you for Joe, who has both autism and ADHD. As a result of all the news coverage the appeal initially raised around a £1,000 for the teen.

Joe announced plans to spend the cash on buying more tools so he could carry on with his work and the fund was re-opened raising a few more £100s.

Now the teenager has paid it forward buying two trolley loads of supplies for the town's foodbank out of the money he received.

Alee posted pictures of Joe handing over his donations to the foodbank.

She said: "Joseph has been busy again today, paying it forward. He has bought and delivered two trolley loads, having sought a list of required items for the foodbank. Nice one Joe!"

Joe's proud parents Mark and Lisa have been thrilled by the public's response to their son's efforts. Lisa explained previously that Joe had come up with the idea to tidy places and clean signs in the town where he was born to keep busy during lockdown.

Lisa said her son got a real buzz out of seeing the before and after his tidying efforts.
