Reform UK’s Daniel Divine takes Chatteris councillor spot from Anne Hay at Cambridgeshire County Council elections

Reform has taken a Fenland ward from the Conservatives in the county council elections today.

Cheers erupted from members of Reform at the Hudson Leisure Centre in Wisbech as it was announced that Daniel Divine will be the new councillor for Chatteris, after he received 941 votes.

The seat had been held by Conservative’s Anna Hay since May 2017, but she lost out this time around with 781 votes.

Mr Divine was not in the hall for the victory. However, Andy Osborn, who has just won the seat for Roman Bank and Peckover, spoke on his behalf.

“I thank everybody everywhere for their support for Reform UK,” he said.

“We are very excited because we are all about listening to people.

“Our slogan says we’re putting family, community and obviously our country first - that’s what we’re about.”

Other nominees included:

• Jay Eames (Labour and Co-operative Party) - 266 votes

• Emma Pollard (Green Party) - 138 votes

• Janet Elizabeth Porter (Liberal Democrats) - 167 votes

The total amount of votes for the ward was 2,304, a 27.73% turnout.
