Historic fair arrives in Wisbech

Wisbech town councillors and civic leaders enjoyed all of the fun of the fair on Wednesday evening.

The historic Statute Fair had come to town and was officially opened by the mayor Susan Wallwork.

After the parade from the council offices to the Chapel Road car park and the traditional ceremony, which was watched by a large crowd, the VIPs were escorted round the fairground by members of the Showman's Guild.

They had a go on several of the rides including the dodgems which is always a must for the party.

That heralded the start of the event, the music blared out, the lights came on and the crowds flocked in.

The fair is open until Saturday evening and has all of the usual attractions from monster rides for the adrenalin-junkies to something more gentle for the children and plenty of candy floss.
