Clairvoyant evening at Chatteris sees massive boost for Tommy

Organisers of a month-long series of fundraising events to help a little boy whose mum died in a car crash are delighted with the success of a clairvoyant evening on Friday night (10).

They could hardly foresee just how successful the evening held at the Chatteris Working Men's Club was to prove raising well in excess of their £1,000 target.

The evening with Paul Mainwaring and Stephen Raynor included a raffle and raised £1,221 for three-year-old Tommy, whose mum Grace Robinson from Wisbech was killed in a horror crash at Gorefield in February.

Bridget Knowles, 56, and her friend Anita Evans, who have been running a Facebook raffle page known as A&B's Lucky Page since the pandemic where people can make suggestions to raise funds for worthy causes, were behind the event.

They announced at the start of March that all their fundraising efforts during this month would be for Tommy.

They are holding a series of tombola evenings at the Working Men's on March 20, 27, and 31 and are appealing for prizes to help boost fundraising for the little boy.

Bridget and Anita also have an Amazon wishlist where people can donate items and the link for this can be found on the Facebook page.

They also have drop off points in March, Chatteris, Doddington and Wisbech and information on these can also be found online or alternatively contact Bridget on 07985127859.

In the meantime local snooker player Joe Perry has donated a jacket, which can be signed, and that is currently the subject of a silent auction also running on the Facebook page.

The starting bid was £50 and bids can be made via messenger to either Bridget or Anita. All proceeds raised by the auction will also go to Tommy.
