Clock is ticking but there is still time to nominate your Pride in Fenland heroes

There is still time to nominate your unsung heroes of 2022 for this year's Pride in Fenland Awards as the deadline for nominations has been extended.

The response so far has been amazing with some truly worthy nominees for each of the categories, but if you think you know someone who deserves a bit of recognition then don't be afraid to send their name in.

The closing date is now Sunday October 16 and making a nomination couldn't be simpler.

You can either fill in the coupon that has been in the Citizen for the past few weeks, or you can simply go online to the Fenland District Council website and make your nomination there.

If you haven't got a coupon or access online then you can always send the information on a piece of paper to the address below, but ensure you include all the necessary details.

This includes your name and contact details, the name and contact details of the person you are nominating, and of course why you are nominating them. You have up to 250 words to say why you think your nominee deserves to be a winner in this year's Pride in Fenland Awards - which are now in their 15th year.

The awards aim to recognise and celebrate the many selfless people who go above and beyond to help their local communities – and help to make Fenland fantastic.

Presented by Fenland District Council and the Fenland Citizen with support from sponsors, the awards offer a unique opportunity for local residents to highlight the friends, family and neighbours in their life that make a difference.

Nominations of all varieties are accepted, with the awards themselves set to be split into the following categories as well as the Special Judges Award, the winner of which is chosen from all the nominees:

• Community Group - Open to all community groups, large and small.

• Good Friend - Open to any individual who has volunteered their time to help others.

• Young Person in the Community - Open to any individual or group of individuals aged 21 years and under.

The closing date for nominations is midnight on Sunday October 16, 2022, so there’s no time to lose.

Nominations can be made online via the Fenland District Council website at www.fenland.gov.uk/prideinfenland or via the paper nomination forms printed in the Fenland Citizen. These can be sent via post to the Fenland Citizen offices at The Fenland Citizen, 4 Francis Street, Spalding, PE11 1AT.

This year’s exciting awards ceremony is set to take place in November at the Boathouse Business Centre in Wisbech.
