College of West Anglia apprentices win the Kevin Clarke Memorial Award
The achievement of two trainee electricians has been recognised at an evening reception held by the College of West Anglia.
The event saw the two apprentices, Ben Gilbert and Daniel Brown, each receive an award set up in memory of former apprentice Kevin Clarke.
The Kevin Clarke Memorial Trophy is presented to the electrical apprentices who have shown the highest level of personal achievement and development during the academic year.
John and Janet Clarke sponsor the award each year, given in memory of their son, Kevin, a former CWA electrical apprentice who was sadly killed in a car accident in 1984.
Daniel Brown an electrical apprentice at B&W Electrical Services Ltd, Outwell and Ben Gilbert an electrical apprentice at Clive Browne Electrical Engineering LTD, Holbeach were this year's recipients.
Representing the Kevin Clarke Memorial Trust and presenting the award was Petula Harrington, daughter of John and Janet Clarke and sister of the late Kevin Clarke.
This year’s prizes of an electrician’s tool kit, were kindly donated by Edmundson Electrical and were presented by King’s Lynn branch manager, David Grimes.
John Clarke said: "Janet and I were unable to attend the awards presentation in person, but we would like to congratulate both award winners for their hard work to enable them to receive the Kevin Clarke Memorial Award. Please keep up the good work. We would like also to thank the college for putting on an excellent presentation evening and Edmundson Electrical for donating this year's prizes."
CWA principal David Pomfret said: "It is great that we have been able to award two CWA apprentices with the Kevin Clarke Memorial trophy. Our apprentices are really valued in the workplace and I am proud to be celebrating the work that they do at this event. Congratulations to Ben and Daniel."
