Concern after series of collisions on A47 near Peterborough in past 24 hours

There have been several collisions on the 47 between Peterborough and Thorney in the past 24 hours.

A crash partially blocked the A47 at Eye near Peterborough this morning, Thursday December 17.

The crash took place at 5.42am and involved a silver Vauxhall Omega Elite.

It is believed the car went over the middle of the roundabout. It was the only vehicle involved and it is not clear at this time whether the driver, a man in his 50s was injured.

Ambulance crews did attend the scene and police were called to clear debris from the carriageway.

It follows a serious collision on the same stretch of road last night, Wednesday,the New Cut Junction near Thorney.

Police were called at 7.24pm last night (Wednesday, December 16) by the ambulance service with reports of a collision at the Thorney Bypass on the A47.

The collision involved a blue BMW 318 and a blue Nissan Micra.

Three people were involved, two of whom were in the Micra which ended up in a ditch.

They are believed to be have received serious but not life threatening injuries, although Cambridgeshire police said is was not clear whether all three people involved were injured.
